Great King Ravana was a former king in "Hela/Asura civilization". This civilization suppose to be the core of Ramayana Story bias indians distroy his image deliberately for their God sake but as a Sri lankan we should know the hidden truth behind this things.Emperor Ravana lived about 5000 years ago in Sri Lanka. As a buddhist, ravana was vegetarian and worshiped Kashyapa Buddha. His kingdom was Lankapura and queen was Mandodari King's children were known as Upendraminika (son) and Sohili (daughter).
According to Ramayana, the emperor Ravana was assassinated by Rama.But referring ola manuscripts, rock inscriptions and folklore of Sri Lanka, Ravana was not died at war. ReplyDeleteThe Buddha we are worshiping today is gautama Buddha... There were Buddha's before him...one of them were kashypa Buddha.. King rawana did not worship gautama Buddha.... He worshiped kashypa Buddha...

ReplyDeleteYou are talking about vishnu's 9th avatar not real buddha. 9th Avatar was originally Balarama. But in those days when brahmins regain their power, Hinduism subsumed buddhism and made it a part of Hinduism. ( one of the stupidest thing they've done. There are many major differences between those 2, basically, Buddhism is on contrary to Hinduism, has insignificant similarities though.) After Subsuming buddha became the 9th avatar of vishnu. And was born in Kali Yuga and so on..
ReplyDeleteBut the real thing is, I mean how should I put it? Let's say Buddha in Buddhism, it's a post not a person. There are infinite number of buddhas in different time periods. It's true that Ravana lived before the current buddha's period. Buddha in his period was named Kashyapa Buddha.
